Battersea Power Station, the major development that includes a new shopping centre on the edge of central London, has announced some key roles as the retail part of the site gears up for its opening. It has named James Carragher as Estates Director together with adding four additional new names to the Estate Management team.

Carragher will be responsible for managing the operational performance of Battersea Power Station’s growing estate. His experience includes nine years at Landsec, most recently as Operations Director for the Central London portfolio, and previously as General Manager for the Nova development in Victoria.

Other appointments include one key hire in the retail area. David Collins becomes Head of Retail and Commercial Services. This is a major role ahead of the site becoming home to hundreds of new shops, including the creation of a new High Street at Electric Boulevard. He joins from Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield where he spent 10 years, most recently as Senior Operations Manager.

Battersea Power Station’s first phase is complete with tenants moving into the Grade II listed converted Power Station from this spring and Electric Boulevard later in the year. Some 500,000 sq ft of office space in the Power Station is also soon to be handed over to Apple to start work ahead of its UK move to the site. The new tube station is also due to open this autumn.

Simon Murphy, CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Company, said: “We are reaching a pivotal moment in the transformation of the development as the long-awaited vision for this iconic building and the surrounding area becomes a reality. In line with the progress being made across the site, we are pleased to be strengthening our Estate Management team with this first wave of new hires to be led by James who will be instrumental in overseeing and managing the operational processes involved in the next stages of the project. James and colleagues bring significant experience and expertise, which will be required as we transition towards the opening of the next two phases of the development and we look forward to welcoming them all to the team.”
