Alber Elbaz’s colourful, light-hearted world seems to know no bounds. The creative studio of Elbaz’s AZ Factory label has drawn on the late Israeli-American designer’s passion for striking pyjamas and printed patterns to create a loungewear capsule collection called ‘Palazzo Pyjama Story’, now available on AZ Factory’s e-shop.

For the first collection by AZ Factory, a label Elbaz launched in early 2021, a few months before his death, with Swiss luxury group Richemont, the designer had created various models of printed pyjamas, which the label’s creative studio has now used as connecting thread to design a loungewear collection composed of 40 lightweight, ultra-comfortable everyday items in silk and cotton velvet. They range from dressing gowns and caftan to shirt dresses, trousers, shorts, t-shirts, shirts, jackets, bucket hats and velvet slippers.

The collection includes a velvet cushion priced at €210 and a silk scarf at €250, while other prices range from €675 for silk trousers, to €795 for a shirt and €925 for a shirt dress. All the items are featured in four different prints.

“This new project pays tribute to Alber’s irrevocable love for colour and boldness, combined with a serene and carefree lifestyle,” said the label in a press release, adding that “the collection is inspired by traditional men’s indoor clothes, with a modern street-art attitude.”

The collection is promoted by a campaign lensed in Venice Beach, California, featuring a series of Polaroids and short videos by French artist and photographer Maripol, renowned for having been Madonna’s stylist and Basquiat’s friend.
