Avon ramps up innovation with personalised beauty app debut
Avon has created an innovative beauty app to help representatives deliver a better and more personalised service to customers, helping them choose the right foundation shade for their skin tone and suggesting the best formulas for their skin type.
Avon said the app will deliver diagnostics that promise “more accuracy than ever, regardless of ethnicity, skin tone and type”. Built in partnership with Techkon, an industry leader in colour measurement solutions, the technology will use a phone camera and a calibration card exclusively available to Avon representatives to help customers choose the right foundation.
Additionally, the app can make personalised skincare product recommendations after processing a series of answers through a unique algorithm.
Louise Scott, Avon's chief scientific officer, commented: "At Avon, we are putting an end to the one-size fits all approach and recognising that women don't just want the latest product, they want real beauty insight tailored to their individual needs – not just for foundation, but for their whole beauty colour regime.”
The app has already received “overwhelmingly positive” feedback in the UK and South Africa, Avon said, and further versions are in development to work across a broader range of mobile platforms.
