While Avon France declared bankruptcy on 24 April, the American direct selling cosmetics company continues to restructure global operations, announcing the elimination of 600 additional jobs. New measures primarily concern North America and will represent, according to the company, an annual savings of 50 million dollars.
For its first quarter ending on March 31, Avon - who aims to achieve 400 million dollars in savings by 2016 - reported an 11% decline in sales at 2.2 billion dollars. In North America, sales tumbled by 22%.
Avon Products has 36,700 employees worldwide and 4,300 in the United States
