As we announced in March, British online retailer Asos is about to launch new versions of its e-store in Italy, Spain and Australia in September, with China also being among its future development plans. Asos, which offers its online members clothes and accessories from numerous brands as well as its own, has lately been strengthening its presence internationally. For its last quarter results, ended June 30th, the group’s international sales consisted of 57% of the total, against 51% previously.

Asos reported sales revenue of 107 million pounds (121 million euros) for the first quarter of fiscal year 2011, showing an impressive growth of 63% when compared to the same period one year before. Sales from its domestic market, which used to be predominant one year ago, have now become less significant in spite of a 15% increase. This is not that much, when taken into account that international sales went up 160%. In order to meet the needs of this growing demand, the group has just built a new distribution centre in Barnsley, England. Asos currently has 508 million clients spread across 160 countries, of which 3.5 million are active. The retailer is also hoping to follow its members more closely with the launch of an iPhone and iPad applications in one week’s time.
