Marking its 11th edition, the Asia OutDoor trade show witnessed record exhibitor numbers from both local and overseas brands, with more than 19,000 buyers attending the fair in Nanjing, China.

Located at the Nanjing Expo fairground, the recently finished OutDoor summit covered 48,000 square meters, and welcomed 705 exhibiting brands on its turf, up from 617 in 2015. According to event organisers, 26 percent of brands were international.

Additionally, a total of 19,502 trade visitors ascended on the fair, confirmed Asia OutDoor, inching forward from 19,002 last year. Particularly well-received were a large number of talks, discussion panels and opportunities to test products and sports, said organisers.

Pushed on by the growing Chinese outdoor market, the trade show displayed the latest in goods and apparel, as well as serving as a "platform for the transfer of information, meeting points and testing facilities," it said a release.

Stefan Reisinger, Head of OutDoor/Eurobike, explained: "As the largest and most professional trade show in the Chinese outdoor industry, Asia OutDoor serves not only as a commercial platform providing business opportunities for brands and dealers, but also as a social platform for the whole industry."

A main feature was the China Outdoor Association (COA) Summit, which centred on topics such as the evolution of the outdoor industry and the integration of the outdoor and tourism industries.

Another highlight was the new self-driving & RV camping village. Camping has become a consumer-demand oriented outdoor activity in China and the new village-like venue, where exhibitors presented their products, showcased RVs, camping equipment and camping site resources.

A major takeaway from the fair was the need for Chinese brands to focus on product aesthetics. "As the Chinese outdoor market matures, Chinese outdoor brands are paying more and more attention to the design of products," said show organisers.

Some 94 percent of the visitors were satisfied with their experience, and 92 percent confirmed they will return in 2017, according to post-show survey.

The 12th edition of Asia OutDoor will take place from June 29 to July 2, 2017 in Nanjing.
