Amazon Fashion appoints head of fashion direction
Sally Singer, Vogue’s former creative digital director, has joined Amazon as Amazon Fashion's head of fashion direction.
According to a report from Vogue, the head of fashion direction position is a newly created role, and Singer will report to Amazon Fashion’s president, Christine Beauchamp.
Singer began her work with Vogue in 1999, and only broke away from the publication once—during a two-year stint editing T: The New York Times Style Magazine from 2010 through 2012—before finally departing vVogue in December, 2019. Over the course of her 20-year career with Vogue, she served as fashion news director before becoming digital creative digital director in 2012.
During her time as creative digital director, she was responsible for refreshing vogue.com and its social media presence, and promoting video content on the site. Some of the fan favorite short films Singer produced include 'Céline Dion Takes Paris in the Best Couture Looks of the Season' and the recreation of the 'Beetlejuice' dinner scene featuring the Hadid family.
The new hire comes as Amazon continues to build on its fashion initiatives with projects like Luxury Stores -- an invite-only concept dedicated to high-end and designer brands launched in September -- as well as an increase in fashion programming on Amazon Prime Video, like fashion competition series 'Making the Cut' and both the first and second Savage x Fenty fashion shows.
