Known for his collections combining streetwear and luxury, the Taiwan-born, New York-based designer, who has just created a very successful collection for H&M and who is also the creative director of Balenciaga, has made his first foray into interior design.

He has created a 3-piece furniture capsule collection for Italian design company Poltrona Frau, to be sold as of this February. It comprises two bean bag-style chairs, with a trunk bar complete with brass shelves. The collection took two years to be completed.

"These last ten years, I have become increasingly interested in furniture. When I started working in fashion, I always had a certain environment in mind, but being able to give shape to that thought was completely new for me," stated the designer to the Wall Street Journal.

It was when he was appointing his store in New York, where the furniture is exhibited as a preview showing, in collaboration with interior designer Ryan Korban, that Alexander Wang really got closer to interior design.

"For me, design should always come from a certain idea of integrity and a sincere interest for objects, which carry emotions, as if I were creating them for myself," Alexander Wang also said to the American newspaper.
