The fashion headlines all touted Gosha Rubchinskiy’s Burberry collaboration, presented Sunday night in St. Petersburg, with the British label’s creative director Christopher Bailey front row and center. But this time too, the Russian designer continued his collaboration with German sports giant Adidas, following the surprise appearance of the three-stripe collection on Rubchinskiy's runway in January in wintery Kaliningrad.

Adidas Football x Gosha Rubchinskiy Season II - Adidas

For this second installment, dubbed Adidas Football x Gosha Rubchinskiy Season II collection, the designer drew inspiration from the Russian youth culture of the 1980s and 1990s. The new collection was created in close collaboration with the design team of Adidas and draws inspiration from the 1990s rave scene in Russia.

“Working with Adidas Football allows me to celebrate the youth of Russia. Through the creation of fashion that expresses my vision, combined with the best sportswear brand worldwide."

Highlights include oversized training tracks, woven training pants, French terry tops and pants, and sleeveless tops. Some pieces were emblazoned with the word "football" in Cyrillic. The season II includes a shoe collection as well as accessories such as gym bags or water bottles.

Football has been on Rubchinskiy’s mind a lot lately. The FIFA World Cup is set to play in Russia in 2018 and a big reason behind the Russian wunderkind’s collaboration with Adidas. Kaliningrad, Russia, where Rubchinskiy first presented the Adidas looks in January, is also one of the venue cities for the 2018 sports event. Is that any hint of where the next Rubchinskiy catwalk might be held? The choices vary from the comfort zone of Moscow or Sochi on the Black Sea to Yekaterinburg, only some 4,700 kilometers from Paris as the crow flies.
