10 Corso Como New York will offer fashion, design objects and books, and include an Italian café and restaurant, a garden, and an art and photography gallery.

The 28,000-square-foot location will occupy the first floor of the Fulton Market Building and will be built around the aesthetic of American artist Kris Ruhs, who has been responsible for the design of all the 10 Corso Como locations in Milan, Seoul, Shanghai and Beijing.

The destination is part of a wider regeneration project currently being led by the Howard Hughes Corporation at the Seaport District and aims to serve as a space that brings culture and commerce together as part of the wider community.

10 Corso Como New York will be led by its managing director, Averyl Oates, who brings extensive experience in the fashion retail industry to the position, having previously served as the commercial director of Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette’s fashion divisions. She also served as the store’s deputy commercial director, a role in which she helped lead the group’s expansion into China.

Prior to this she spent seven years at Harvey Nichols, working as group fashion buying director.

“I am incredibly excited to be part of such an iconic brand and to bring this truly unique concept to New York,” said Oates in a release. “I have always admired 10 Corso Como’s commitment to authenticity and quality across fashion, food and art, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to interpret this heritage in a manner that will resonate with and be relevant to New Yorkers.”

10 Corso Como was founded in 1991 by former fashion editor Carla Sozzani, whose vision of the location as a “virtual 3D magazine” helped pioneer the idea of the retail concept destination.

“I am very excited to introduce 10 Corso Como to New York,” stated Sozzani. “Almost 30 years after we opened in Milan, to be a part of such an inspiring resurgence in one of the city’s oldest artistic and commercial neighborhoods is a dream.”

10 Corso Como New York will open at the Fulton Market Building, 1 Fulton Street, NY, this September, with a celebratory launch event slated to take place on September 6 to coincide with the city’s Fashion Week.
