MotoGP star Jorge Lorenzo joins Tissot as ambassador
Three-time MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo has been named Tissot’s new brand ambassador. The watch company, which is the official timekeeper of the motorcycle racing championship, said Lorenzo represents the values of the brand perfectly.
François Thiébaud, President of Tissot, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Jorge Lorenzo to the Tissot family. His passion, his courage and fighting spirit fit with the values of Tissot perfectly. Our commitment to the world of MotoGP TM and to our role as Official Timekeeper is strengthened by our alliances with great athletes.”
The Spanish rider has enjoyed success in the motorsports scene since an early age. When he was 8 years old, Lorenzo won the Balearic Championship; and when he was 15, he became the youngest rider in the World Championship.
After three years in the 125CC category, he escalated to 250cc and achieved two consecutive World Championship Titles. Jorge Lorenzo was then at ease in making the leap to the top flight in 2008. In his first race, he won pole position and in his third MotoGP Grand Prix, he climbed to the top of the podium.
In eight seasons, Jorge Lorenzo achieved three World Championships (2010, 2012 and 2015), has been runner-up three times (2009, 2011 and 2013) and has become one of the most important racers of all-time.
“It is an honour for me that Tissot, such a prestigious brand with so much history in motorcycling, entrusts me with the role of ambassador. Tissot plays crucial role in the races and sets the pace in MotoGP. Now, I would like to return the favour and trust with victories and maximum precision on the track,” said Jorge Lorenzo.
