Uniqlo will opened its largest Southeast Asia flagship store in Singapore, as the fast fashion apparel retailer looks for growth outside Japan.
Owned by Fast Retailing, the new Uniqlo store will be opened on Singapore's iconic Orchard Road.

Uniqlo to open Southeast Asia largest store - Uniqlo

It's slated to be the largest Uniqlo store in Southeast Asia, measuring 2,700 square meters over three floors.

The news comes as Fast Retailing looks to curb failing profits in Japan on the back of suppressed domestic consumer sentiment. Chairman Tadashi Yanai on Thursday reiterated plans to generate 5 trillion yen ($48 billion) in sales by 2020 to keep Fast Retailing competitive with H&M  and Zara-owner Inditex. Low prices are now key in that equation, Yanai told Bloomberg.

“Keeping the low prices every day is important. That will be critically important given this environment,” said Yanai at a briefing in Singapore ahead of the store’s debut. “We also aspire to provide truly great clothing at the lowest possible prices.”

The new flagship will be the 25th store in Singapore, bringing its Southeast Asian presence to approximately 130 outlets.
