Presenting its latest quarterly results, Skechers reported that its export sales are now worth more than the revenue it generates in the USA. In 2015 the US footwear specialist generated a revenue of $3.147 billion (€2.792 billion), and addressing the logistics challenge is of major significance for the company.

Skechers' European logistics centre - Skechers

Proof of this is Skechers' investment in its European distribution centre, located in Liège, Belgium. The brand has extended the facility for a fourth time, adding 26,500 m2 and reaching 98,500 m2 altogether. The group stated that in the first quarter the facility has handled 8.1 million pairs of shoes, delivered throughout Europe. The additional space will allow Skechers' European team to install state-of-the-art automation systems, something which is expected to be achieved during the year's last quarter.

Skechers' range is huge, going from casual shoes to sports shoes (it recently became the official footwear sponsor for the European Ironman event) to children's LED sneakers, and intends to keep on growing in Europe. The brand stated that in the first quarter it enjoyed a double-digit net sales growth, especially in Spain. Skechers' leading markets are Germany and the UK. Its products are distributed through multi-brand stores, its e-commerce sites and also a network of branded stores.
