The American outdoor door brand Patagonia is launching Truth to Materials, a line made up of five pieces that explore new, more sustainable production methods.
Truth to Materials includes an undyed cashmere pullover (550 euros), two sweaters - one with a hood, the other without - (200 euros) made from cotton scraps collected in textile factories that, once shredded, is blended with organic cotton. Finally, the collection includes a parka and a jacket (respectively 300 and 280 euros) made from recycled wool.
Made in China, Patagonia’s undyed cashmere requires a minimum amount processing (fewer chemicals). The recycled cotton, which comes from a factory in Hong Kong, lessens the use of water and energy. The recycled wool, meanwhile, comes from Italy.
Truth to Materials is now available on Patagonia’s online store as well as in the brand’s brick-and-mortar stores in Chamonix, Milan and Munich in Europe.
