Last year, the Onward Luxury Group (formerly Gibò) acquired French premium leather goods manufacturer Moreau Paris, and is now reportedly on the verge of inking a strategic partnership deal with Charlotte Olympia. Asked by FashionNetwork, the Japanese group's European subsidiary commented that "all information on the matter will be made public at the appropriate time."

The Italian-Japanese group is a benchmark for the manufacturing and distribution of top-of-the-range labels in Italy, and produces under licence the ready-to-wear and footwear collections for Mulberry, women's ready-to-wear apparel for Rochas and Antonio Berardi and shoes for Proenza Schouler, Rochas and See by Chloé. Onward Group also owns Joseph, Jil Sander, Véronique Branquinho and Moreau Paris.

The British footwear label has already transferred production to Italian manufacturer Iris Shoes, owned by Onward and based near Venice. The news report from WWD cited an industry source.

The British footwear label was launched in 2008 by Charlotte Olympia Dellal, winner of the accessories design prize at the British Fashion Awards in 2015. Charlotte Olympia's main source of inspiration is Hollywood glamour, with an added dose of contemporary design, and in a few years the label has gone places, boosted by several collaborations. It is available at the most prestigious department stores and operates 11 stores worldwide (in the UK, the USA, Asia, Dubai and Moscow) and last year it made no bones about the intention to grow at a faster clip.
