Messe Frankfurt launches trade shows Avantex and Avanprint

Published
Jul 1, 2015

The German organizer is adding two French trade shows to its agenda: Avantex will be devoted to high tech materials for fashion products, and Avanprint will focus on digital print technology on textile. Both events will be held at Le Bourget during Texworld and Apparel Sourcing, in September for the first, and in February for the second.

Avantex will open its doors to thirty or so companies offering textiles and incorporating at least three innovative features, and/or holding unpublished patents. For the event, the selection committee will rely on the expertise of the Taiwan Textile Federation. The range should bring together smart textiles, intelligent textiles, nano-technology and cosmetic materials, as well as innovative finishings.

Fifteen or so Taiwanese companies have already been announced that will exhibit alongside the Swiss company Forster Rohner Textile Innovation, the Austrian company Lenzing, the Chinese companies Ruisheng Textile and Tianshuo Textile Science&Technology, as well as the Center for Microsystems Technology (CMST).

An Annual event, Avanprint is the result of an agreement that was signed on June 15 between Messe Frankfurt and the World Textile Information Networld (WTIN). The event, which should be launched from February 15-18, 2016, should serve as a showcase for design and production capabilities made possible by new digital printing processes on textiles. Printers, software and relevant services will all be presented. The organizer expects to welcome 35 exhibitors in a space that covers 21,500 square feet.

"World production of digitally printed textiles is estimated to grow by 20% per year," said Messe Frankfurt. "For many years, we have observed the creative potential of this technology among designers. But recent developments have helped it to shed its "luxury" label as it is increasingly employed with ready-to-wear, a sector in which the benefits have been seen by among some of the largest retailers and brands in the world."

With an edition of Apparel Sourcing held in New York and more recently in Istanbul, Texworld brought together some 15,034 visitors (+5.16%) at its Paris edition held from September 14-17. Visitors came from 109 different countries to meet some 850 exhibitors.
