No stranger to the fashion world Pat McGrath can usually be found masterminding defiantly decadent makeup backstage. On Monday night, however the world's most celebrated editorial and runway stagehand will be stepping out from behind the scenes to join a bevy of designers and industry players at the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York.

McGrath, whose name features on this year's list of honorees, will be presented with the Founder's Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert by 1990s supermodels Karen Elson and Amber Valletta. The prize has previously been awarded to US fashion designer Donna Karan, J.Crew CEO Millard "Mickey" Drexler and Diversity Coalition founder and former Editor of Vogue Italia digital edition Bethann Hardison.

Pat McGrath becomes the first makeup professional to scoop up the CFDA's Founder's Award. A year after being made The Wall Street Journal's "Fashion innovator of the year," the Northampton, England-born makeup pro was added by Queen Elizabeth II to her New Year's list of honors, in recognition of her services to the fashion and beauty industries.

It seems there is no end to the admiration for beauty's top trendsetter who was hailed "the most influential makeup artist in the world" by American Vogue last week. In an interview with the glossy, McGrath spilled the beans on her CFDA award ceremony makeup: "three different foundations to look as though I am wearing none," and the-bigger-the-better lashes.

CNN has previously voted her "one of the most influential and powerful people in fashion" and Ebony magazine shared the general consensus, naming her "the number one most powerful person in fashion."

McGrath's glamazon makeup artistry has won over top couture names Nicolas Ghesquière, Riccardo Tisci, John Galliano and the late Alexander McQueen. Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and the Hadid sisters are among the lucky few to have got glammed-up in her chair.

Her most recent appointments include Prada, Louis Vuitton and Valentino's latest runway shows.

Since 2015, Mcgrath has been dividing her time between styling the world's most beautiful faces and driving Pat McGrath Labs, her booming beauty business. The widely-followed venture brings cosmetic lab samples of her latest beauty brainwaves to the public. The Dark Star 006 7-piece smokey eye kit, featuring lustrous pigments and entrancing holographic CyberClear Gloss in ultra violetblue and ultrasuede brown -- is shaping up as the most widely-talked about product to come from the lab.

Other hero products inspired by McGrath's sci-fi lip creations, Metalmorphosis 005 and Lust 004 lip metallic lip kit and glitter-shot vinyl gloss, have proven to be so popular that they boast their own dedicated instagram pages.
