MODINT’s Han Bekke is new president of IAF

Han Bekke, chairman of the Dutch Trade Association for Fashion and (Interior) Textiles (MODINT), has been appointed as the new president of the International Apparel Federation (IAF). Alvanon Inc president Ed Gribbin was elected as treasurer, at the general assembly of IAF as part of the ongoing 32nd IAF World Fashion Convention in Mumbai.

Bekke succeeds Rahul Mehta, chairman of the Clothing Manufacturers’ Association of India (CMAI), who has held the position of IAF president since 2014.

During his long career in the Dutch and international fashion and textile industry, Bekke has held different management positions. Since 2013, he is chairman MODINT, a member of IAF. From 2006 till 2014, hewas secretary general of IAF and became its board member in 2014.

The IAF general assembly also elected Ed Gribbin, president of the US based Alvanon Inc, was elected as treasurer. Jiang Hui, chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Textiles and Clothing (CCCT) was elected as member of the executive committee. Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) senior vice president Faruque Hassan and Les Miller, CEO of American & Efird, were appointed as members of the board.

IAF is the world’s leading federation for national clothing and textile associations from more than 40 countries, representing over 150,000 companies and over 5 million employees. Individual companies from industry and retail as well as suppliers to this industry and educational institutes can also be a member of IAF.
