It will be the second Kate Spade store in the world to feature the brand’s new design concept, and it continues the brand’s effort to expand its presence in Europe after setting up shop in Paris last year.

The new 1,800-square-foot store is due to open in spring next year and is likely to incorporate some of the quirky elements that define Kate Spade’s style. Additionally, the American company has always experimented with different technologies in-store, and its latest opening in Paris combined an interactive journey through the city.

The company, founded by the late Kate Brosnahan Spade in 1993, has 140 stores in the US and a further 175 worldwide, including five in England and one in Ireland. In Scotland, its presence is limited to the John Lewis department store and the brand’s website.

The upmarket handbag label will join brands such as Belstaff, Vivienne Westwood, Reiss and Karen Millen at Princes Square.

This week, Kate Spade presented its Spring 2019 collection, designed by new creative director Nicola Glass, in New York. The collection draws inspiration from the brand’s beginnings and payed homage to its founder Kate Brosnahan, who passed away in June.
