LVHM-owned luxury watchmaker Hublot has announced this year’s winner of its annual design competition. The award recognises outstanding designers who distinguish themselves through their boldness and creativity.

Christophe Guberan has been selected by a panel of 5 world-renowned independent judges who evaluated the design entries of 25 candidates. As the winner, Guberan received a cheque for CHF 100,000 intended to support him in the realisation of his work.

"The difference between talent and success means always going further, exploring that extra mile that crowns unique destinies-the alliance of perseverance, passion and good momentum. The Hublot Design Prize transforms talent and creativity into success. By encouraging and promoting the next generation of designers and the innovation of the future, Hublot plays the role of a mentor, passing onto others what it has itself received," said Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO Hublot.

The Swiss watch company created its Design Prize last year in celebration of the 10th year anniversary of its iconic Big Bang model. Instead of paying tribute to accomplished, well-known designers, the prize aims to give an extra push to emerging designers that have not yet been “publicly appreciated”.

The award’s criteria includes the innovation, creativity and originality of the projects presented; the choice of materials and the quality of execution; the viability and sustainability of the projects; and the utility and value of the creations.
