The US e-commerce giant announced it has deployed Amazon Business in France, after launching the B2B arm in Germany in 2016 and the UK in spring 2017.

The Amazon Business offering is designed to respond to the varied technical needs faced by businesses, ranging from cleaning services to information tools, as well as specific materials for certain companies such as restaurants or laboratories. In addition, Amazon Business combines over one hundred million business-relevant products - laptops, office supplies, and even industrial safety and janitorial supplies.

Like many French firms, which are systematically calling-out the arrival of Amazon as a threat to business, the B2B sector is equally concerned about Amazon Business's entry.

According to the federation of online sales (FEVAD), total B2B revenues reached 460 billion euros in 2016, with close to 15% taking place online, excluding travel expenses.

During the 2017 fiscal year, the Amazon group recorded $117.9 billion (142.5 billion euros) in sales, up 31% on last year. Net profit rose from $2.4 billion to $3 billion (2.4 billion euros), while operating income contracted by 2% to $4.1 billion.
