The initiative will run from 15 November until 31 December 2016, giving customers the change to purchase the new P.RIDE airbag at a lower price. The brand said trade-in values will be €300 for the ABS Twinbag and €150 for every other airbag.

The goal is accelerate the adoption of the new avalanche airbag which is the first product equipped with wireless partner activation.

According to a recent study, one in five airbags are not activated in an avalanche, mainly due to failure to pull the handle. “The ABS P.RIDE is the first avalanche airbag to address this safety issue by actively helping prevent the user's own burial as well as that of his or her companions,” said the brand.

“The scheme makes it easier to upgrade to the new P.RIDE system which incorporates the latest quality standards. At the same time, it offers our retail partners a completely risk-free sales concept without a binding commitment,” said ABS managing director Peter Aschauer.
